Euro rises on positive German, Chinese data (AP)

NEW YORK ? The euro is rising against the dollar on positive German and Chinese economic data.

The euro rose to $1.2748 in midday trading Tuesday from $1.2665 late Monday.

Germany said its investor sentiment index rose in January. And China said that growth slowed in the fourth quarter, but the slowdown was not as big as analysts had expected.

In other trading Tuesday, the British pound rose to $1.5357 from $1.5340. The dollar fell to 0.9489 Swiss franc from 0.9545 and to 1.0132 Canadian dollar from 1.0179.

The dollar was unchanged against the Japanese yen at 76.76.
