Tornado Touches Down in Rogers Saturday Night

The first tornado in decades to hit inside Rogers' city limits touched down Saturday night. The storm caught many people off guard.

The tornado came down near Pinnacle Hills Parkway.

Three to four businesses were damaged by the 90 to 100 mile an hour winds. Power lines were also down in the area.

Police say two people driving through the area got caught in the storm. They walked away, but their car was not so lucky.

Chief Tom Jenkins of the Rogers Fire Department said, "All things considered, this is a more sparcely populated portion of 52nd Street. The Pinnacle Hills area is pretty dense with businesses, and so in some aspects, we're fortunate that it didn't happen in a more densly populated area on Saturday night."

Power has been restored in most of the affected area, but a portion of a downtown street was still blocked for cleanup Sunday evening.
