Plan seeks co-guardian for Michael Jackson's kids

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Katherine Jackson's attorney is planning to file legal documents to determine the living arrangements of Michael Jackson's three children.

The new proposed arrangement would name the children's cousin, TJ Jackson, as co-guardian to help Katherine Jackson raise them.

The plan is expected to be filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. It appears designed to remove pressure from the 82-year-old grandmother who was named in Michael Jackson's will as the children's sole guardian. Prince, Paris and Blanket currently live with her in Calabasas.

The move comes in the wake of a family dispute that spilled into the media. Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine Jackson called for a truce among the siblings Wednesday. He expressed regret for the public turmoil and urged peace, love and healing.

With Competition Looming, Zipcar?s Q2 2012 Revenue And Earnings Disappoint

Zipcar is seeing increased competition in the car-sharing market, which is one reason that it might not be growing as quickly as it, or analysts, like. Zipcar reported second-quarter loss of $422,000 today, or $0.01 a share, compared to a net loss of $5.6 million, or $0.17 a share, in the prior year's second quarter. But Wall Street analysts expected the company to break even this quarter, with revenue rising 18.7 percent to $73.1 million. And Zipcar missed its own revenue forecast of between between $71 million and $74 million. Zipcar shares popped during the IPO, rising to nearly $30 a share. But ever since, they've been on a gradual decline, and closed out the day pre-earnings at 10:50. Zipcar saw its shares drop TK percent in after hours trading as a result.

Adidas 2nd-quarter earnings up 18 percent

BERLIN (AP) ? Sportswear maker Adidas is reporting a nearly 18 percent increase in second-quarter earnings and is raising its full-year forecast ? citing growth in emerging markets and the impact of major events such as football's European Championship and the Olympics.

Adidas AG said Thursday that its net earnings totaled ?165 million ($203 million) in the April-June period, up from ?140 million a year earlier. The company's revenue was up to ?3.52 billion from ?3.06 billion ? an increase of nearly 15 percent.

The company says it is now targeting an increase in full-year net earnings of between 15 and 17 percent. That compares with its previous forecast of a range between 12 and 17 percent.

NYC Property Tax Filing Needs Major Reform: Grand Jury Report ...

A state grand jury has found New York City's property tax system is compromised.

The current laws and regulations fail to prevent false property tax filings and impose inadequate penalties on those who commit fraud, according to the grand jury report announced Tuesday by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

Property taxes are the largest source of New York City's revenue, generating nearly $18 billion in fiscal year 2012. But it's impossible to estimate how much money fraudulent claims cost the city, according to the Department of Finance and the city's Tax Commission. Officials in both departments characterized the battle against fraud as an issue of fairness.

"If someone lies on their income and expense forms and has a lower assessment because of that, everybody else is picking up that burden," Tax Commission president Glenn Newman said in an interview.

The report examined the Real Property Income and Expense (RPIE) statements required for properties with assessed values of more than $40,000? which is about 70,000 to 80,000 properties in the city, according to the Department of Finance.

The owners of rental properties, co-cops, condos, hotels, motels, department stores, power plants, theaters and parking garages and lots must submit RPIE forms.

The grand jury report made seven recommendations for greater oversight of tax filings and stiffer penalties for people and businesses that submit false or inaccurate forms.

"We're really more interested in deterring this than in prosecuting it," Chief Assistant District Attorney Daniel Alonso said.

As is, those who commit fraud often go undetected or get a slap on the wrist.

"This is the lowest-level felony," Alonso said. "Punishable by no mandatory minimum and, at most, one and a third to four years in prison."

The grand jury recommendations would make real property tax evasion a more serious felony. It also calls for an earlier deadline for tax-related filings, which would give the Department of Finance more time to conduct a review, and false filers to be prosecuted for perjury, a felony offense.

The City Council has introduced a bill that would make those two recommendations law.

Other suggestions, such as civil sanctions and updated fraud detection technology, would require approval or action by the State Legislature, Mayor's Office, or various city agencies.

IAA:? What city and state are you from?

36 SHAWTY:? I come from where the Hornets originated, also the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Of course, I can?t forget the next best black quarterback resides where I?m from as well, Cam Newton. For those that are still a little lost let me break it down to you, nothing could be finer then to be from Carolina! Charlotte, North Carolina is where I?m from to be exact.

IAA:? What is your music background?

36 SHAWTY:? I came up listening to whatever my mother and older siblings were listening to. That being said, all genres of music gave me the musical background that I have today. I would put my music in the hip hop, rap, r & b, and dance music range.

IAA:? Why do you want to record and release your own music?

36 SHAWTY:? I feel that I have a unique sound of my own. First off, I also strongly believe that I can be the voice for my city. Since I learned that I possessed this gift from God, I want to share it with the world!

IAA:? What are your songs about?

36 SHAWTY:? My music comes from the heart of a hard working man from the queen city who has earned and worked hard for everything he has, no hand outs. That being said, my songs are about my life experiences in the drug trade, in dealing with friends, family, and of course women. Can?t live with them and definitely can?t go a day without them. 36 SHAWTY:? First let me say that my fan base is directed to all ethnic groups. I do what I do for the attention of the baddest scuttaboos (ladies) and hard head buffoons all around the world. If you lived in the hood, came from nothing and are trying to make something better out of your life, becoming a fan of mine will help get you through whatever because I know how it is to struggle and go through ups and downs in life.

IAA:? Who are your musical influences?

36 SHAWTY:? Just to name a few artists that I like to listen to, they would be Nas, Pac, Biggie, Jay-Z, R. Kelly, Al Green, Clarence Carter, Master P, Prince, Gucci Mane, OJ da Juiceman, Snoop Dogg, and The Game. My list could go on and on for days but that?s just to name a few.

IAA:? How would you describe your music to people?

36 SHAWTY:? Live! That has to be the first word I use because when you listen to my music you will feel nothing but energy. Some songs will make you want to sit back and take a shot of something, or put whatever in your system if you know what I mean. I have songs that are up lifting. At the same time some of my music will take you to dark places in your life, my life as well. At the end of the day me describing my music, I would have to say it?s live, emotional, energetic, ride to it music, TUH (TrapinUnderHeat).

IAA:? What makes you stand out from other artists?

36 SHAWTY:? My life is what makes me stand out from artists or people in general. Coming from 36th street, living in a two bedroom apartment, there were six of us in all, three boys and one girl. We shared a room and everything else. I turned to the drug trade at a young age to help take care of my family. Being the youngest in the household didn?t make a difference to me, I had to go get it. Working a 9 to 5 and hustling in the streets in Charlotte was all I knew for a long time. At the end of the day, I feel that my work ethic, drive, and determination to want to be the best is what will also separate me from other artists.

IAA:? What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

36 SHAWTY:? Right now I?m working on three different projects: Team F.O.E. Presents Family Over Everything [Til Death Do Us Part], in which there will also be a DVD included with the mix-tape. I?m also working on two mix-tapes of my own: Trap Ethics [Lesson 1&2]. Both of these projects will also have?DVDs included with them as well.

IAA:? What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

36 SHAWTY:? My career goals are that I want to be one of the top business moguls in the world. I?m starting in the music industry of course and then I see myself branching out to fashion, fragrances, and alcoholic beverages. My overall goal is to just be a trendsetter in whatever I put my hands on or put my mind to doing. In ten years I see myself in Charlotte, North Carolina with businesses set up for my family. I also want my name to be a household name in the music industry in 10 years.
